UUFF Service Auction, October 22, 2012 has a special theme – BOLLYWOOD!
It’s almost hard to believe that something as fast, furious and fun as the 2010 UUFF Service Auction can also be a terrific fundraiser, but raise funds it did, to the tune of $7,170! (and there’s always the opportunity to buy seats at events that didn’t sell out!)
One of the leading reasons the total was so high is that UUFF members really put on their thinking caps this year to plan interesting events and dinners and to think of ways to offer their services and talents to others. In 2009 there were 8 dinners/events while in 2010 there were 19! In 2009 there were 36 offers of service, talent or the results thereof and 54 last year.
This increase in involvement—and the fellowship that will result from the dinners/events and projects—is worth more than the actual dollar amount raised. Every time members interact with each other as a result of this Auction a seed is planted. Some seeds will sprout quickly, bearing fruit that Carol Bobek will cook into her delicious pies. There are seeds that take longer to germinate, some cross-pollinate and still others bring forth plants that weren’t expected. It takes faith to count on fundraising to cover part of the Fellowship’s budget each year, but I have faith that the UUFF Service Auction will continue to grow and raise ever larger amounts of funds…and continue to plant seeds of fellowship.
A list of who purchased each event and service will be compiled and posted on the web site as soon as possible.
Thanks to the members of this year’s Service Auction Committee: Carol Olson, Roberta and Megan Kaplan, and Lisa Longino. Thanks to all those helping on the day of the auction, whose names will be listed when we’re sure we haven’t left anyone out! If you’d like to help with next year’s Auction, contact Carol Olson
